Dhara: an archaic word meaning "foundation" or "support." Since ancient times, it is a name alternately given to our world as well as to the Material Plane as a whole.

But the true Material Plane is a vast expanse of cosmic sea dotted with millions of fantastic worlds. They range from magic–wasted desert planets to island–dotted water worlds; worlds where magic combines with advanced technology, while others are trapped in an endless Stone Age; worlds where the gods walk, and worlds they have abandoned.

Our own world is one steeped in the preternatural essence of the fey, rich with life, fixed in circular time. Each era is built on layer upon layer of destruction and rebirth, leaving only scars upon the bones of the earth.

We once took our world and our place in the cosmos for granted. Then the fabric of reality tore under a force of unspeakable power, and nothing could ever be the same again.
